Certificate of Posting to show when 2 parcels in an order

Hi

I note that it is now possible to specify how many parcels are used to ship a single order through the shipping rules and the right-click quick select menu.

Would it be possible to update the Certificate of Posting to indicate how many parcels there are, or perhaps duplicate the line item by the number of parcels (probably better for Royal Mail certificates of posting) given this information is now recorded, and to ensure the Number of Items at the top of the certificate is also updated to reflect this?

On a separate note, for your information with regard to DMO, this gets us closer to not needing to split orders occasionally, however today we had an order that went into 2 packages, one Small Parcel, one Large Letter, and if we were using Royal Mail DMO already this would not go through as a single line item as we have to separate Large Letters from Parcels.

Thank you

Nick

Re: Certificate of Posting to show when 2 parcels in an order

Hello Nick

Yes, I will look at the number of parcels on the Postal Record.

I am planning a new release that addresses the DMO issues, but haven't yet worked out a decent way to split parcels. It's not possible to simply split the record, as the database was not designed to do that.

Re: Certificate of Posting to show when 2 parcels in an order

Many thanks Andrew for addressing the parcel count, and considering the split functionality for DMO.

It would seem logical to me that you might setup a new record when an order is split rather than consider trying to share the same record number, as they will have to be tracked independently - one parcel may reach the client and another may never arrive and have to be resent and so on. If treated as a new record then all existing functionality will still work :)

Just throwing in another idea. If there could be some kind of indicator that links the records somehow (or just visually indicates it is part of a multi-part order, that would be even better, i.e. when an order is split, they reference each other. Ideally it could be possible to split into more than 2, or more easily just split one order off at a time, but allow it to be split again, because if I receive a wholesale order, that might consist of several cartons on a single order that would have to be split for multiple packages.

I guess all that is fine for pick & packing lists, but it would presumably mean if using it to print off invoices too, that would effectively split them into multiple invoices. I'm not adverse to this if it means a split capability becomes possible. Those who don't want to do this don't have to use it.

Best regards

Nick

Thanks for considering.

Thanks Nick

I will bear this is mind but I am still not sure that we achieve what is needed.

Linking records needs to have been designed into the system from the start, so it is a very major change.
