Hi,
Yeah I like the idea of Scan not Tracked selection. I'm pretty sure the guys at PPV could do that easily.
Fingers crossed.
Cheers

It shouldn't be a problem to add that option, I'll have a look at it in the next couple of days.

Brilliant. Thanks Andrew

I've been looking into this option but it can't work safely. What you end up with is a single scan that marks as shipped whatever you scanned, even if it is an error.
The point of scanning parcels to mark as shipped is to reduce errors. A single scan without any confirmation doesn't fulfill that purpose and has the potential to cause them. So I'm not happy to implement that.
A secondary scan, click or keypress is essential to confirm the parcel identified by the first scan. So I'll change it so that scanning the identifier twice, will mark shipped with no tracking ID.

Hi Andrew,
Yeah I see your point. Would there be a way of having some coding or numbers that when scanned into the tracked number area would leave it blank and move to the next.?
We can create a barcode with letters and number etc.

Yes, I can add that, if we make it 0000 then it couldn't be mistaken for a Tracking ID.
So there would be two ways: either scan the identifier twice, or print and scan 0000 as the tracking ID?

An alternative would be abcd0123 or something similar. My handheld scanner doesnt do very well with short repeated character barcodes. It seems to reject them. Thats what you get when you buy cheap chinese rubbish of ebay lol

I've added all three of those options. Now you can scan the identifier twice, or print 0000 or 1234 as a dummy tracking ID and scan that. click here to install the update.

Hi i am interested in using this feature too. i think its a great idea.
i was wondering, what kind of hand held barcode scanner can i use, and how do i set it up?

Hi,
I don't know about anyone else but we just used a basic wireless barcode scanner from ebay about £20 - £40. Really easy to use straight out of the box and plugged it in.

Thanks, and what do i do then? how do i set it up to work with packing partner ?

I will have a look at adding a button so that you can scan non-tracked without having to scan twice.
It shouldn't be too difficult.

We print the record id as a barcode on the address label and once we have franked the mail we use the scanner by clicking on the shipping tab scan as shipped and then scan all the parcels.
We also use our scanner for stock control. We use microsoft excel for that and the scanner works fine for that to.

Great!, thank you very much for your help.
i really would love if packing partner had a feature which helped our warehouse pickers when packing. maybe it does and i don't know about it? but anyway the software we use currently does the following.
1 - picker scans barcode on invoice.
2 - big screen in packing area shows product needed to be picked.
3 - picker picks product and scans barcode on product.
4 - if the picked product matches the one on the invoice a green tick is displayed.
5 - if the picked product is wrong and does not match the one on the invoice a red cross is displayed.
this would be an awesome feature for us.
thank you

I have added a button to the Scan Shipped dialog that allows you to turn off having to scan a barcode.
