Hello
I just printed an order, and no sooner I had printed it another order came in from the same buyer and I cannot seem to combine them now that I have printed it.
It would be ideal if I could choose manually to combine orders, no matter whether it has been printed or not.
(In this particular case if I had been able to unmark an order as printed it may have combined automatically)
I also have scenarios where I find it better to post an order in 2 packages, e.g. to make the items fit in Large Letter packages. So in this case I would like to be able to split an order into 2. I don't need all of the details necessarily in both, as long as one refers to the other. Perhaps alternatively having an option to specify the number of packages for a particular order could be a simpler way to handle it.
I need this for tracking purposes so my Proof of Posting is stamped by the post office for the correct number of packages sent.
Are either of these already possible as I cannot see how it can be done without an update to the software?
Thank you!
Nick

As you say, these are not possible at the moment.
I don't think it's something we want to add, as I can see it causing many other issues. We are looking at the features of the new Beta, so I will see what we can do.
We could possibly do what you need through scripting, but that would be chargeable, a rough idea would be around £150 to £250.

Thanks for considering Andrew.
Not to worry. I am still trying to optimise my operations, having been selling on eBay for a while, started recently on Amazon and now setting up an OpenCart store as that is one of your supported shopping carts.
If at any time in future you consider adding any options to manually split or combine orders, with whatever restrictions you may need to put in place, they would no doubt be very helpful :-)
It is easy to conceive of someone ordering a box of envelopes and a stack of labels on A4 sheets, which would need to be shipped as separate packages even if part of a single order, since the envelopes are already packed in a carton and wouldn't try to put them together into yet another carton. Just reviewing the order I can determine whether they would need to be shipped together or separately, even before it gets to picking & packing, if that helps simplify a future implementation in a new version.
The carton would typically be shipped via MyHermes (through Parcel2Go.com), and the pack of A4 sheets would likely go Royal Mail if they are within Large Letter size limits.
Alternatively larger orders simply cannot be shipped as a single package if they exceed weight or size limits. I expect to sell several cartons of grip seal bags on the web site as a single order, and they will have to be shipped as multiple cartons rather than 1 as the size is too great to be combined. I can sometimes tape 2 of identical size together to treat them as 1.
Just some ideas for you to consider for the next version :-)
Loving this application - saving so much time, and the invoice/delivery slip feature is fantastic!
Thank you

I have asked a couple of users about splitting orders. They tell me that they simply print another invoice/label when packing.
I appreciate what you need, but I think it's too complex to make generic, especially if you need them to go by different carriers. Also, it is just the type of customisation that scripting is designed to cover.

No worries.
If an order needs to go by 2 packages via the same carrier, I can print another integrated label packing slip, however the number of packages on the Proof of Posting sheet will be incorrect.
I can manage - appreciate you having considered it.

You can do that by selecting all the orders that you need copies of, and printing a Postal record for them.

I know this is an old post but just came across a similar problem
2 orders for an item weighing 1.5Kg just came in from the same person in another country so PP combined them into 1 order
Trouble is, with Royal Mail DMO I am limited to a max weight of 2Kg per International parcel. It is also still cheaper to send 2 parcels weighing 1.5Kg each with DMO than it is sending them together with another courier.
For now I have exported the DMO file, then copied and added an extra line and changed the weight to 1.5Kg to get 2 parcels with DMO before importing into DMO, but a 'uncombine' order option would have been good and it could just be as simple as that. Let PP combine orders but then have an option to uncombine if required.

I will have a look into this, for the next release.
For the moment you can search the Archive (orders are not combined in the archive) to find and export the two separate orders.
